We’re about to go catch a plane (love that phrase–visualize sprinting down a runway trying to grab a wing) to visit family and friends in Houston. It’s probably the absolute worst time of year to go to that hot, muggy city, but I’m trying to look on the bright side. After all, everywhere we’ll go will have air conditioning on full blast. We might even get chilly while indoors (well, the boys will but probably not me–I never get chilly while pregnant).
We’ll be back August 8th.

Well, I forgot to come by and update on the gestational diabetes thing. My tests came out normal, just as in other pregnancies, and the other docs I see (have to rotate through a few of them to get to know them all before I go into labor, not knowing who will be on call at that time) don’t seem so concerned about it. So I’m just continuing to be careful, having a bit more protein and a bit less carbs and sugar. They do still think the next baby will probably also be a large one, since I have a history of that, but not much to be done about it except keep an eye on him (as well as we can while he’s still inside the womb). I’ll be having another ultrasound to check him out in 3 weeks.
In other news, just started a new blog (I know, I’m crazy). This one is called Fig’s Frippery and it’s a companion blog to my little Etsy shop. It’s all about beautiful things, fabric I love, and sewing projects I’m working on.

I’m fiddling with the websites again, so I hope you find me over here. I’ve moved this blog to figlife.com/blog (which you’ll already know if you found me here) and my family website is now at www.figlife.com instead of lainiefig.com. This way I can keep just the figlife domain and retire the other when my subscription runs out. Sorry for any confusion!
This weekend I bought a new domain name (figlife.com) and started playing around with WordPress, which led me to move my little Lainiefig blog over here. All the old posts are here and hopefully I’ll quit playing with WordPress soon and start adding new posts.
I’ve merged my Mommy Fig blog back into this one. I am just too tired lately to keep up with an extra blog. So instead of writing about my pregnancy and kids, my pregnancy and kids are wearing me out too much to keep blogging about them.
Obviously I’ve done a major redesign of this blog. I just have way too much fun tinkering with my blogs.
As you can see, I’ve adopted a new template for this blog (since I stole the other template to put it on my Mommy Fig blog. I admit half the fun of blogging for me is fiddling with the templates.
Since I just love blogging, I have a new one–the Mommy Fig blog. Check it out some time. It’s a work in progress, but it’s all about the Mommyhood.
Yeah, it looks a lot like this one–that’s because I had a lot of issues with Blogger today and oculdn’t get it to accept the new template I wanted to use. Grrr. So I copied this one over from here and it worked. Voila. So the Mommy Fig style might change later if I can get Blogger to cooperate.
I’ve decided to import a few posts from my Lainiefig blog that seem appropriate for a Mommy blog. It makes this blog seem a little more substantial but as I deleted them from the other blog it now seems a bit diminished.
I’ve been tweaking this new blog a bit and found some interesting Blogger widgets. One is an Ovulation Calendar (see upper right) and one is a list of Trying to Conceive Articles from BabyHopes.com (see lower right). There are also some nice pregnancy widgets if I succeed in the conception process.
